Global emissions deal may come by 2020, aviation leaders say

Aviation leaders who convened at Europe's business aviation event, EBACE, say a global emissions deal may be executed by 2020. Elina Bardram of the European Commission's climate action division said Brussels wants to reach an agreement through the United Nations' International Civil Aviation Organization. Leaders from 17 countries have teamed up with ICAO to form a deal that would lower carbon emissions. Paul Steele, environmental specialist for the International Air Transport Association and head of the Geneva-based Air Transport Action Group, said considerable progress had been made in the ICAO talks.
