India's fashion brands prepare for Western competition

Western apparel retailers including H&M, Gap and Uniqlo aim to open stores in India under new ownership rules, additions to the market that are likely to bring changes for the country's existing fashion retailers, industry experts say. "The strong and established brands will have to consistently strengthen their core positioning while upgrading retail experience," says Sooraj Bhat, brand head at Allen Solly.
