Medigap: A growing and "vital" resource to consumers, AHIP finds

Medigap plans saw a substantial increase in enrollment in 2012, growing from 9.9 million enrollees in 2011 to 10.2 million at the end of 2012, AHIP found in an analysis of data from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. AHIP's latest report argues that Medigap, which provides important assistance with out-of-pocket costs, is a "vital lifeline" to beneficiaries that would be endangered if additional taxes are enacted.
