Researchers study the geography of tweeting

Twitter use appears to align closely with the availability of electricity around the world, according to new research. The researchers also determined that pairs of users who interact with each other nine times a month seem to be located closest together geographically. Researcher Kalev Leetaru, a fellow at the University of Illinois Graduate School of Library and Information Science, noted that "location plays a much lesser role now in terms of who we talk to, what we talk about and where we get our information."
