Senate farm bill would trim food stamp spending

The Senate Agriculture Committee's version of the farm bill includes an annual cut of $400 million, or about one-half of 1%, from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as the food stamp program. The House version calls for a steeper cut to SNAP, as well as eligibility changes.
