Ads are coming to the covers of Time, Sports Illustrated

Time Inc. has announced that it will reserve advertising space for the covers of its Time and Sports Illustrated magazines. Ads for Verizon will appear in a small strip near the mailing label as a test, and if successful, the practice could be expanded to Fortune, InStyle, People and other titles. Such ads are "commonplace in both digital products and newspapers," said Norman Pearlstine, chief content officer at Time Inc.
