Study has bad news, good news on potential platelet problem

Long considered as beneficial "paramedics" of the bloodstream that make sure blood clots correctly to heal wounds, blood cells known as platelets are being looked on more ominously in recent research. A new study suggests that platelets could cause chronic inflammation, which can lead to heart disease, but the study also found that a diabetes drug may work to reduce the negative effects of platelets.
