Supreme Court OKs USDA's beef promo check-off program

A divided Supreme Court Monday ruled the U.S. Department of Agriculture's beef promotion program does not infringe on the first amendment rights of producers, saying the speech contained in the "Beef, It's What's for Dinner" campaign and similar advertising is solely the government's. The ruling could impact other cases challenging promotional programs involving pork and dairy producers.
