Milwaukee schools search for achievement-gap answers

With 35 percentage points now separating white and black Milwaukee sophomores in reading and 42 points in math, according to the data released Tuesday, closing the system's already large achievement gaps remains elusive. Efforts to engage and focus students are taking hold in lower grades, but learning environments still must improve in high schools, said Milwaukee Superintendent William Andrekopoulos.
