Struggling district shortens day to cut costs

As schools elsewhere search for ways to lengthen the school day and year, schools in financially struggling districts are cutting periods to save money as budgets tighten. Teachers' days will not shorten under an Ohio district's plan, but an early dismissal of students will allow schools to run fewer buses.
