Cartagena, the Colombian seaport, has put its cocaine days behind it to become a sultry tropical destination featuring salsa parties, colonial mansions, fusion restaurants and plazas reminiscent of the Old World. Along with a wide variety of music being played all over the city, the tropical town also has a quiet side with white sand beaches. Visitors should make sure they've got sturdy, comfortable walking shoes, because Cartagena is a city built for walking.
