Flight delays cost carriers, travelers $40.7B in 2007, committee says

A congressional panel said Thursday flight delays cost airlines and travelers $40.7 billion in 2007. Delays cost carriers $19.1 billion in extra staffing, fuel and maintenance costs, according to the report.
