New Zealand regulators quarantine heparin-coated device

The New Zealand Ministry of Health has quarantined a medical device that was coated with a contaminated blood thinner, heparin. The device manufacturer, Medtronic, had instructed clinicians last week to quarantine the devices, which are used in heart-lung bypass surgery, until uncontaminated supplies are available.
