GE turns Indian manufacturing into global innovation

General Electric launched a manufacturing site in Bangalore, India, to produce the company's high-end medical devices for the country's hospitals. Local manufacturing cuts costs and waiting times, said GE Healthcare CEO John Dineen, but it also allows devices to be tailored to local needs. "The innovations from here could lead to an entirely new line of products which in turn could create whole new market opportunities for us," Dineen said.
