Wal-Mart aims to cut costs by taking control of transportation

Wal-Mart is asking all of the manufacturers that supply products to its namesake and Sam's Club stores in the U.S. to change the way they deliver goods, in an effort to create efficiencies and cut delivery times. Wal-Mart wants to use its own fleet of truckers and transportation contractors to pick up products directly from the manufacturers rather than continue having the manufacturers deliver goods to Wal-Mart's distribution centers.
