Chicago moves to bring recess back to schools

Chicago officials released new guidelines for schools on how to provide students with at least 20 minutes of recess each day. The guidelines will require schools to set up committees to consider and approve the changes, which would bring recess back after a decadeslong absence in some schools. Most schools that implement recess -- which could begin in some schools by the fall -- will have their day lengthened by 45 minutes, so teachers also can have a lunch break.
