Analysis: German firms eye advantages of moving production to U.S.

Germany's move toward renewable energy is driving up energy costs and prompting the country's industrial firms to consider relocating, according to this analysis. Firms including BASF and Wacker are seeing the economic advantage of moving production to the U.S., which "has become much more attractive to companies than Europe," said Martin Wansleben, head of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry. "Germany is in the process of getting sandwiched between eastern Europe with its low labor costs and the U.S. with low energy costs."
