Army's carbine competition might be shut down

A news conference on the Army's plans to replace the M4 rifle through a carbine competition has been postponed after the announcement of a program audit by the Defense Department's inspector general, raising the possibility the program may be canceled. The Army has already completed two phases of the competition, testing rifles for durability to narrow down the replacement choices.
