Austria drops opposition to EU plan to share bank-account data

The EU overcame a major obstacle to sharing bank information among member states after Austria agreed to the proposal. Austria said it will relax bank-secrecy laws when tax havens that are not EU members agree to follow the same rules. EU leaders said they will attempt to negotiate such agreements with Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino and Switzerland.
