Broadcom debuts 802.11ac chips for mobile devices, PCs

Broadcom has introduced the BCM43162 chip for notebooks and PCs and the BCM4339 for smartphones and tablet computers. The chips incorporate the IEEE 802.11ac standard, also called 5G Wi-Fi. Broadcom is currently sampling the chips with customers, with plans for volume production later this year.
