Frequent heartburn is linked to throat and vocal cord cancers

Experiencing frequent heartburn is linked with 78% greater odds of developing throat or vocal cord cancers among individuals who are not drinkers or heavy smokers, according to a study in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention. Researchers noted that the use of antacids was linked with 41% reductions in the risk of getting the cancers.
