Industry groups respond to call for EHR program reboot

The recent call from six Republican senators to "reboot" the EHR incentive program because of issues such as a lack of clear interoperability standards and inadequate HIT program oversight drew mixed reaction from industry groups. The Texas Medical Association wrote in a letter that while recognizing that the program helped accelerate EHR use among Texas doctors, interoperability challenges remain. In its comments, HIMSS said the need for "a nationwide patient data matching strategy" was one of the biggest issues surrounding EHRs.
