A selloff in Japan, poor Chinese manufacturing numbers and worries that the U.S. Federal reserve may be looking to end its bond-buying program pushed down shares in Europe and the U.S. on Thursday, though U.S. shares recovered somewhat later in the day. The Stoxx Europe 600 closed down 2.12% at 303.99 for its biggest loss in 10 months, but the S&P 500 managed to end the day only 0.29% lower at 1,650.51.
