Mobile ad platform uses social media data to personalize ads

UberMedia introduced a mobile ad platform that combines data gathered from public information posted by social media users and GPS location tracking to provide targeted ads the company hopes users are interested in seeing. Universal Pictures used the platform to show trailers for its film "Oblivion" to Twitter users who like Tom Cruise, for example. Universal reported the campaign received between three and four times the usual engagement.
