Proposals that would limit the use of ethanol fuel in Maine have moved forward in the state Legislature. A bill that would ban ethanol in motor fuel passed the Senate, but it was amended to take effect only if 10 other states with a collective population of at least 30 million pass similar rules. Meanwhile, a proposal that would ban the sale of gasoline with more than 10% ethanol was signed into law May 7.
