Report: Housing, stocks boost consumers' outlook

The weekly Bloomberg Consumer Comfort Index, a measure of U.S. consumer confidence, rose last week, a sign that improved housing and stock prices may be cheering Americans' mood about their finances. The index, while still in negative territory, rose while another measure that tracks consumers' views on their own finances stayed in positive territory for a sixth straight week.
