Special mats for pets recalled due to toxic substance

Roughly 465 Royal Canin heating and cooling mats for cats and dogs that were distributed as promotional items in Canada between Jan. 27, 2011, and April 1, 2013, have been recalled because they contain diethylene glycol, a substance that is potentially dangerous for pets and children. The chemical may be released if the mat is damaged.
