Toro posts 14% increase in fiscal second-quarter earnings

Toro's fiscal second-quarter earnings reached $78.4 million, up 14% from $68.8 million in the same period last year. Unseasonal weather affected sales of the company's snow blowers and lawn mowers, but a 9% growth in its professional products division helped offset the weakness in demand for residential products. "Even with a marginal winter season and late start to spring, we remain cautiously optimistic about the remainder of the year," said Michael Hoffman, CEO of Toro.
