VA analysis links chronic pain to increased suicide risk

Researchers looked at data from more than 4.8 million people treated at Veterans Health Administration facilities in fiscal year 2005 and found that certain types of chronic pain were associated with a higher suicide risk. The link was strongest for psychogenic pain, followed by migraines and back pain, according to the study published in JAMA Psychiatry.
