Facebook's rivals prepare to go on offense

Facebook's privacy woes represent a window of opportunity for social startups. Social networks such as Pip.io, Appleseed and Diaspora are hoping to capture a slice of their giant rival's audience, as disgruntled users seek more open alternatives. "The Facebook experience can be better, and if we can do that, we can open up a new market," says Pip.io co-founder Leo Shimizu.
