RFA: Tax incentives for ethanol are "sound public policy"

The 2010 Green Jobs Act sponsored by Sens. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., and Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, seeks to extend through 2015 three ethanol-related tax incentives and a tariff on imported ethanol. The measure is a companion to the House bill introduced by Reps. Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D., and John Shimkus, R-Ill. These tax incentives "help the industry expand and are sound public policy," according to this article, because they help lower the price of gas, reduce oil imports and help "reinvigorate rural economies all across the country," said Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association.
