Study links metformin to vitamin B12 deficiency in diabetics

Dutch researchers said long-term treatment with metformin, a drug commonly prescribed for people with Type 2 diabetes, might contribute to vitamin B12 deficiency. Their study indicated that the vitamin level in patients treated with metformin was 19% lower than those taking a placebo, who displayed almost no change.
