Washington, D.C., tops Fitness Index for third year

The Washington, D.C., metro area ranked No. 1 for the third straight year in the American College of Sports Medicine's American Fitness Index. The index evaluates many healthy living factors, including preventive behaviors, chronic disease levels and community health policies. Boston ranked second.
