Global GPS giant snaps up custom-topography firm

GPS-system giant Trimble Navigation has snapped MyTopo, a Montana-based custom-topography outfit that styles itself as America's top provider of topo and aerial maps. The deal will strengthen Trimble's ability to serve outdoor companies and to create mobile-mapping apps, officials said. "Many adventures begin with a map. The acquisition of MyTopo allows us to provide our customers with unique solutions for virtually every step of their adventures," said Rich Rudow, general manager for Trimble Outdoors.
