MRSA testing mandate for ICU patients gets positive feedback

More than half of Chicago-area hospital staff surveyed said a 2007 law mandating MRSA screening for ICU patients has had a positive effect, according to a study in the journal Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology. The study showed negative effects of the legislation included the psychosocial effects on patients and use of resources, and 60% of participants said states should draft clear plans to implement screening programs.
