OIG findings on HIT security issues get mixed reactions

Some industry observers say two reports from the HHS Office of the Inspector General that identified gaps in federal health IT security efforts are a "wake-up call" that could be a catalyst for action. Deven McGraw of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT's Privacy & Security Tiger Team, however, contends that the reports failed to underscore "the need for a coordinated security strategy coming out of HHS, if not the White House."
