CN: "Same market need" propels interest in crude-by-rail shipping

Oil companies in Canada and Asia are showing interest in crude-by-rail shipping, which stems from the "same market need" for oil transportation, due to a struggling pipeline sector, according to Jean-Jacques Ruest, Canadian National executive vice president and chief marketing officer. The flexibility of railroads and a strong campaign against new pipeline projects prompted producers to consider rail for crude oil shipments to the West Coast, Ruest said.
