FDA would regulate nonsterile meds, too, under new compounding bill

Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., has introduced a measure that would provide the FDA greater regulatory power over compounding pharmacies. His bill goes further than a measure backed by a Senate panel, which would cover compounders of sterile drugs that distribute in other states. The FDA would have authority over both sterile and nonsterile products under Markey's bill.
