I-5 bridge collapse in Wash. highlights infrastructure needs

A large section of of the Interstate 5 bridge over the Skagit River in Washington state collapsed Thursday, sending two vehicles and three people into the water. The 1955-vintage bridge was already deemed "functionally obsolete," according to the Federal Highway Administration. The state engineer is investigating reports that a truck with an over-sized load may have hit the bridge prior to the collapse.
