Investment flows into inexpensive developing markets

Last week, Ford Motor announced it would expand operations in Russia and build an engine plant there. This week, it said it will close an engine plant and its last assembly plant in Australia. The news illustrates an accelerating trend of multinational companies shifting investment into low-cost, growing markets and out of stagnant markets burdened by strong currencies and high costs.
