Mass. gaming commission praises Springfield mayor for casino work

The chairman of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission praised the mayor of Springfield, Mass., for his commitment to ensuring competition for casinos. In April, Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno announced the selection of MGM Resorts International for a casino in the South End of the city over a competing proposal from Penn National Gaming. Springfield voters still need to approve the proposal, which is scheduled for a July 16 referendum.
