Sales of do-it-yourself genetic tests increase

Despite a debate over the effectiveness and appropriateness of patients ordering do-it-yourself genetic tests over the Internet, sales of such products are increasing, according to companies selling the tools. Supporters argue the tests give patients more control over their health and allow them to gain more information about their likelihood of developing a range of illnesses, though others contend the tests are not always accurate and are best when administered by a physician, who also can help interpret the tests' results.
