FDA approves thalidomide for bone marrow cancer

The FDA approved thalidomide, which was banned more than 40 years ago because of birth defects, for use in treating newly diagnosed multiple myeloma. Celgene Corp. is cleared to sell the drug as Thalomid, indicated for use with dexamethasone, a chemotherapy treatment.
