School food debate gets intense in California

Some parents who aren't satisfied with California's new school food nutrition standards want to go farther and ban treats including cupcakes and cookies associated with celebrations, but other parents and school officials say that proposal takes things too far. "Nutritious food is important, but it's expensive. And if we can't continue to fundraise, we're going to lose our athletic programs. And exercise should be the biggest component of keeping our children healthy," one parent said.
