Grassley says FDA was aware of Avandia danger

Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, said the FDA's own preliminary evaluation indicated significant heart risk from the GlaxoSmithKline diabetes drug Avandia. Grassley also noted FDA safety watchdogs urged a black-box warning for the drug several months ago, and he criticized the FDA for wanting to wait up to two years for data from a new clinical trial.
