Fla. to complete last stretch of Palmetto Expressway with stimulus funds

Federal stimulus funds will allow Florida's Miami-Dade County to finish reconstruction on the final segment of the Palmetto Expressway. The state Department of Transportation will select a contractor for the $552 million project by August, and construction will start late this year. Reconstruction work originally started in 1994. When it is finished in about six years, the interchange will ease traffic congestion, officials say.
