E-commerce spending rose 10% in first quarter

Online retail spending saw a double-digit increase in the first quarter of 2010, for the first time since mid-2008, ComScore reports. Wealthier consumers drove the increase, leading some to temper their optimism with caution. "It's the first positive sign of the return to strong consumer discretionary spending," said ComScore's Andrew Lipsman. "It does come with a caveat, especially with the market looking shaky. We hope it's not short-lived."
