Iraq is seeking to drill 8 wells in West Qurna field

The initial plan signed by ExxonMobil and its partners for the West Qurna Phase One field in Iraq involves drilling eight wells and refurbishing as many as 50 wells this year to raise production, said Bassem Abdul Karim, an Iraqi oil official. Foreign oil-services companies will drill four wells while state-owned Iraqi Drilling handles the other four, Karim added.
