Jobs set for keynote role; Wal-Mart cuts iPhone 3GS to $97

Apple tea leaf readers got a cupful of material Monday with word that CEO Steve Jobs will lead off its annual developers conference June 7 after a one-year absence due to illness. Company observers predict that Jobs, who is expected to discuss the iPhone's updated operating system and perhaps a new handset, might also introduce some Web-based services. Wal-Mart added to the new-handset speculation by lowering the price of its iPhone 3GS handsets by $100 to $97.
