Novozymes has joint-development deals for cellulosic ethanol

Novozymes and Ceres have signed a joint-development deal to produce higher-quality energy crops and better enzymes for cellulosic ethanol production. The partnership will begin with Novozymes looking into finding the best enzyme combination to convert Ceres' commercial switchgrass and sweet-sorghum varieties into ethanol. Meanwhile, Novozymes is also working with ethanol producer Royal Nedalco to develop technology to ferment C5 and C6 sugars.
